Chris Marblo is proud to be the Head of Charlotte Prep and is inspired by the school's 50-year history and excited by its promise of future growth and development. Most recently, Chris served as the Head of the Campus School of Smith College (Pre-K-6), in Northampton, Massachusetts. He has also led The Town School in New York City and The Kent School in Chestertown, Maryland, both serving students in PreK-8. Chris was a Klingenstein Visiting Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University and a lecturer in the education department at Smith College. Although much of his family has now settled in the Charlotte area, Chris grew up on Long Island and in upstate New York. He received a B.A. in Literature and Human Thought from the College of St. Rose in Albany and an M.A in English Education: Humanities from New York University.
Not one to shy from the challenge of building on a school’s strengths, Chris is drawn to Prep by our clear mission, strong community, dynamic teaching, and commitment to diversity. A strategic thinker, he is especially energized by collaboration in the name of planning and rallying a school community to realize ambitious goals.

Sandi moved to North Carolina in 2007 with her husband and two daughters. She took some time off to raise her children and became involved in their school and community. Her love for children and family brought her to Charlotte Prep in 2010 working in the Business Office. Sandi loves spending time outdoors with her family and Australian Shepherd.

Christie is Executive Assistant to the Head of School and School Operations Manager. She also works with the high school placement team to successfully guide our families for high school placement. Christie joined the Charlotte Prep community in 2001 as a parent and joined the staff in 2006. She has served as Business Office Associate, Community Relations & Alumni Coordinator, and Middle School Coordinator. Christie previously worked in the advertising industry as a media buyer in Atlanta and account executive for Group W/CBS Radio Sales in Dallas. Her son, Grayson, was a lifer at Prep and graduated in 2010. Christie enjoys walking, hiking, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family. Christie is passionate about the joy of learning, growing, and serving.
Liz Goldstein grew up in Charlotte, attended Elon University where she received a BA in Accounting and Business Administration. During her career, Mrs. Goldstein has worked in a wide variety of industries including agriculture, textiles, furniture, technology, and healthcare in various financial administrative leadership roles. She has held her NC Real Estate License for many years and has renovated several older homes giving her a unique perspective to Operations. After fourteen years living in Martinsville, Virginia, where she was CFO of Carlisle School, Mrs. Goldstein returned to Charlotte beginning work with Charlotte Prep in 2012. She enjoys spending time with her husband and visiting their two daughters at Auburn and SCAD.She is an avid horsewoman and loves her cat and two dogs.

Melissa Guarnaccia grew up in Charlotte since the age of nine. Following her master’s degree, Melissa began her career within the hospital system providing outpatient therapy. Melissa worked in this clinical setting for approximately eleven years before transitioning to our school. During that time Melissa also worked in private practice providing therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults. Melissa joined Charlotte Prep in 2016. She greatly enjoys working with our students regarding their social, emotional, and mental health. In addition to counseling, Melissa is a certified trainer in the Love & Logic parenting philosophy. Melissa enjoys traveling, hanging out with her pug, Mabel, cooking and dancing in her free time. She is a wife and mother of two boys.

Seher grew up in Karachi, Pakistan and studied Economics and Business during her undergraduate and graduate education. After spending some time in management consulting, Seher joined Charlotte Prep as a parent in 2007. She served as the school’s Multicultural Coordinator for several years before her current role as Associate Director of Admissions. Seher enjoys meeting with new families and is passionate about highlighting the school's culture to prospective families coming through the admissions process. She enjoys traveling, dancing, and spending time with her two daughters.
Evan Kurtz moved to Charlotte after becoming the Middle School Head at Prep in 2017. Previously he spent 15 years in Pittsburgh, working at Sewickley Academy. His time at Sewickley saw Evan in several roles - teacher of Physical Education and Health, Dean of Students, coach of many sports, and concluded with a year as Head of Middle School. Also, during his time in Western Pennsylvania Evan earned his Master's in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Evan’s first teaching position was at Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC, where he lived after earning his undergraduate degree from George Mason University. Evan’s passion is for the Middle School age, which is why after 20 years he continues to enjoy working with adolescents. Outside of school Evan continues to explore Charlotte and the surrounding area with his wife and two high-school age children, making time to visit at least one new baseball park each season.
Kelly is beginning her 8th year as School Nurse at Charlotte Preparatory. She provides healthcare, medical screening, and health advocacy in all divisions. She previously worked as a kidney and liver transplant nurse and has held licensure in both NC and WV. Kelly enjoys gardening and crafts in her free time. But especially spending time with her husband, Tim, and son, Jacob, who is a 2014 graduate of Charlotte Prep. Kelly received her education from West Virginia University and CPCC of Charlotte.

Mimi moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to begin her teaching career in 2005. She has served students, parents, teachers, and school communities in a variety of roles. Mimi has also earned certification through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and is a member of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Each day Mimi teaches with the mindset that as children are provided the right learning opportunities, their natural curiosity, innate ability and desire for respect and order will facilitate the development of their full potentials. Outside of school, Mimi spends her free time creating memories with her husband and three daughters.
Shareena joined the Prep community as a parent in January 2020 (her son Amundsen is a 4th grader), so she is already familiar with our school community and looks forward to deepening these connections in her new role. Shareena will begin her duties on August 10th.
Shareena comes to this position with a wealth of international and multicultural experience and training. She received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois, a master’s degree in international affairs from American University, and is completing another master’s degree in communications from Johns Hopkins University. She will also complete her professional certification in diversity and inclusion at Cornell University.
Her career has taken her to Bangalore, India; Santiago, Chile; and Nanjing and Shanghai, China, where she held positions in public affairs, communications, editing, and program development. Shareena has also presented at TEDx in Nanjing and served as a volunteer and consultant for the Nanjing International School and Shanghai Community International School (SCIS). During her time at SCIS, she initiated engagement with students, faculties, and families on issues of tolerance, bias, intercultural communications, and challenges related to third-culture parenting.
Shareena is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion and possesses the important skills and traits that will serve her well in this position, including empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to think strategically and manage complex projects and challenges. She is also completely committed to the solidarity of our #OnePrep community and being a respectful and inclusive leader.
Jeanette Stiles joined Charlotte Prep in October 2010 as a Director of Technology, providing strategic planning for technology enhancements as well as managing all technology initiatives. She oversees all networking and PC support, LAN, data security, telecommunications and process and procedures for technology. Jeanette has over 15 years of experience in the technology field, both in direct hands-on and in management roles. Jeanette holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and a Master's in Information Systems. Jeanette currently serves on the board as Vice President for CompTIA Association of Information Technology Professionals. She also belongs to the following organizations:

Sharon began her career in education over 24 years ago. She taught in Belen, NM and Dayton, OH before moving to Charlotte to teach at the Charlotte Montessori School, which at the time was a satellite location of Charlotte Prep. Sharon worked as both as a teacher and administrator there for 8 years before returning to the classroom in 2006 to teach in the Early School here. In 2016, Sharon returned to administration as the Head of Early School. Sharon believes in the Montessori philosophy as a way of life beyond just a classroom curriculum, and that as guides of young children, we should, “Follow the child.”
Sharon is the mom to two daughters: Adah and Julia. She enjoys family time, especially outdoors, and learning cooking techniques from her husband Chris, a chef at the CRVA

Vicky Wilkison has been a part of Charlotte Prep since 1992 and serves as the Director of Enrollment and oversees all aspects of the admissions and financial award process. She served on the first Charlotte Prep Board that founded the middle school to make Charlotte Prep a Pre-K through 8th grade school.
In 2010, she was awarded the Women Extraordinaire by the Charlotte Business Media as a result of nomination by her colleagues and Charlotte Business Media selection. Mrs. Wilkison is passionate about education and she loves working with students and families.
Katherine Slayton is in her first year as Director of Curriculum at Charlotte Prep, but she has been teaching in Prep's Middle School since moving to Charlotte in 2014. Originally from Virginia, Ms. Slayton made her way to the Carolinas by way of Wofford College, where she earned her BA in English and History, and Converse College, where she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching. Ms. Slayton has served on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee as a faculty representative for the past six years. Last spring, she participated in Harvard’s Graduate School of Education Global Ed Think Tank, and, most recently, she completed course work through the University of Virginia School of Education on educational innovation.
Ms. Slayton believes that school should be a place for learning and growth for educators and students alike, and she is committed to collaborating with faculty, forming partnerships within and beyond our campus, and working to develop connection-making between students, their classmates, their teachers, and their learning experiences.
Allison Evans is the Director of Communications. She holds a B.A. and a M.S. in Communication with a concentration in Marketing Theory from Auburn University. Her early career highlights include work with global advertising agencies on brands such as Oracle, Ford, Wells Fargo, Gerber and Marriott Hotels and Resorts. Mrs. Evans then served as Vice President of Marketing for Harcourt Assessment (Pearson). For the past fifteen years, she has owned a marketing business focused on consultation for agencies, businesses, and independent schools. She loves spending time with her husband of 21 years, three children, and two dogs.
