A group of very excited 1st Graders got a chance to meet NBA star and Charlotte Prep Alumnus Seth Curry at a recent Philadelphia 76ers vs. Charlotte Hornets game. Sincere thanks to a fantastic group of Charlotte Prep momos for making this special memory happen. We are so proud of our Alumni and love it when they connect with our current students to show them that the sky's the limit!

Prep Alumna to Swim for Harvard University

Alumna Kiley Wilhelm graduated from Charlotte Prep in 2019 and is currently a junior at Myers Park High School. We are proud to announce that she has recently committed to Harvard University for Fall 2023 as a student-athlete in swimming. Congratulations Kiley, we are so proud of you!

Charlotte Prep Joins Freedom School Partners Network

Charlotte Prep has long invested in service opportunities. In September we raised funds for St. Jude's, and we've just finished up a successful spare change drive to benefit the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. Now, we turn our attention to a new service partnership, one we believe will complement ongoing efforts but will also provide new leadership opportunities and help us expand the scope of service at Prep.

We are pleased to announce that Charlotte Prep has joined the Freedom School Partners network.

Freedom School supports summer enrichment programs for students across Charlotte, serving families and children who do not have equitable access to resources and may face learning loss. This work is even more necessary as we see the impact COVID-19 has had on nationwide classroom attendance and learning. For more information, watch the Freedom School Partners intro video, and scan a helpful infographic about the organization's reach and impact.

Service
How can Charlotte Prep help? Freedom School operates monthly book and supply drives to sustain the summer program. We ask our community to bring in books or items specified each month, and if students or families are willing they may also provide monetary donations. Collection points are set up in each building and in numerous classrooms. We will work with Freedom School to schedule service time at their warehouse so that students and families may help to sort and package items collected.

Leadership
Our partnership, however, is focused not only on giving but also on leadership and character development. We are creating a second track of engagement for students to learn about why Freedom School exists and how they operate. Both are important lessons to help students learn about persistent community challenges, equity, and the practical nature of creating impact. Early next year we'll invite Freedom School leaders to visit with our students and families and discuss what it means to lead and how to execute a service mission.

Charlotte Prep Appoints New Director of Enrollment

New Director of Enrollment Appointed

I am very pleased to announce that Seher Khanna will be our new Director of Enrollment effective July 1, 2022. In her current role as our Associate Director of Admissions, Seher is perfectly positioned to assume the responsibilities of this role and continue the successful leadership of the admissions office that Vicky Wilkison has established.

Seher has been a staff member at Charlotte Prep since 2011 and has served in admissions, communications, diversity, and development. The constant in her work is a dedication to excellence; in all her roles Seher has served our school with integrity, intelligence, and professionalism. Her years of service in admissions will also give Seher a strong foundation from which to build a very successful tenure as our Director of Enrollment.

Seher and her husband are the parents of two Prep graduates, both of whom attend Providence Day School. Seher began her career working for Deloitte Consulting, and she has a BA in economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a Certified Admissions and Enrollment Professional and has studied beginning and advanced children’s book writing.

I look forward to working with Seher in this new capacity and welcoming her to the senior
leadership team. Please join me in congratulating Seher on her promotion!
