Mimi moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to begin her teaching career in 2005. She has served students, parents, teachers, and school communities in a variety of roles. Mimi has also earned certification through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and is a member of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Each day Mimi teaches with the mindset that as children are provided the right learning opportunities, their natural curiosity, innate ability and desire for respect and order will facilitate the development of their full potentials. Outside of school, Mimi spends her free time creating memories with her husband and three daughters

Samantha is from Westchester County, New York. She moved to Charlotte in 2008 with her family. She has a passion for beauty and enjoys making people feel good about themselves. Although Samantha takes pride in using the skills she gained working in the salon, she left the full-time beauty industry in 2017 to come to Charlotte Prep where she found a new love for working with children. She delights in being the first face that you see when entering the Lower School, and loves being of service to the community. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family, watching movies, and coloring hair!

Kesia began her teaching journey in Bloomington, Indiana. She completed part of her student teaching abroad in Istanbul, Turkey, teaching English to grades 1-5 and she fell in love with the city and the thrill of being immersed in a new culture. She made her way back to Istanbul a few short months later and began her career in a Turkish pre-school. Kesia wanted to teach older students and found a private Jewish school and taught 1st-4th grade English for three years. Her journey continued in Thailand where she taught the British Curriculum at a private school for one year. Kesia made her way to Charlotte in 2016 in hopes of securing a lead teacher role. In March 2018 Kesia joined the Prep faculty. Kesia loves spending time with her young son and husband, exploring Charlotte and the surrounding areas.

Jill began teaching in southern California twenty-five years ago. She taught kindergarten and first grade in a lovely private school in Arcadia, CA, before moving to Charlotte. She has taught kindergarten at Charlotte Prep since 2011. Jill’s goal is to make sure that all her students love to learn, and especially love to read! Kindergarten is a joyful year, full of fun and engaging learning, which will become the foundation for all other grade levels to come. Outside of school, Jill enjoys spending time with her two daughters, reading new books, and all things Disney.

Maggie is a fun and energetic teacher who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She has had the opportunity of sharing her love and excitement of learning with children for over twenty years. She began her teaching career in New York where she taught in public school for ten years. In 2007, Maggie moved to Charlotte with her husband and two children. She continued teaching for another ten years in Union County. Maggie has been at Charlotte Prep since 2017. Her goal is to motivate and enable each child to reach their full potential in becoming a life-long learner. She encourages independence, builds confidence, and provides support to meet the individual needs of every student. When Maggie is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves going to the movies, reading, and working out (when she can).

Janie is a native Charlottean, one of the few you are likely to meet here. Janie began her career over thirty years ago teaching children in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade in several Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. She has been at Charlotte Prep since 2016. Janie used to think she liked teaching first grade more than the other grades, but after spending several years in second grade, she may be changing her mind. In addition to helping her students grow academically, Janie also believes it is equally important for them to develop a love of learning and school in general. You are likely to find Janie watching or attending sporting events, traveling during the summer, spending time with family and friends, or watching reality TV. Oops! She means, reading.

Stephanie moved from Brownville, New York to Charlotte, North Carolina in the summer of 2006. She originally moved south to get a few years of teaching experience and her degree with the intentions of moving back to New York. She never ended up returning to New York and she’s happy to be able to call Charlotte home. Stephanie taught ten years in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District teaching both second and fourth grades before beginning at Charlotte Prep in 2018. Stephanie’s goal as a teacher is to engage students in inquiry-based learning and to have a love of learning. Outside of school, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, cooking, reading, and spending time outside.

Narada has been teaching Spanish since 2005, initially in a private Montessori school in Connecticut and New York, before relocating to Charlotte. Narada is a certified Montessori teacher. In 2017, Narada joined Charlotte Prep as the Lower School Spanish teacher. Narada is a native Spanish speaker from the Dominican Republic and also lived eight years in Austria and Germany, where she learned German. She enjoys traveling with her husband and two children and appreciates different cultures. She also follows closely the change and evolution of the Spanish language through the Real Academy of the Spanish Language.

Mark taught NC Pre-K for two years prior to moving to Charlotte and working at Charlotte Prep. Mark has been working in Kindergarten since 2015. Mark is currently working on his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in English. Mark’s first passion is to help children find success in school and mold them to have a bright future. In Mark’s free time he enjoys traveling, seeing new places, reading, and spending quality time with family.

Anupam moved to the United States in 2005 and immediately took the opportunity to pursue her dream of educating children by joining Charlotte Preparatory School. Prior to moving to the United States, Anupam lived in India and Indonesia with her husband and two daughters. During this time, Anupam organized the Math Talent Kids Group, where she trained kids in creative ways to develop a love for numbers in playful ways. Since beginning at Charlotte Prep, she has worked with children in TK, Kindergarten and presently first grade. She loves to work with small groups of children, developing their skills in learning while providing diverse cultural education. She loves to cook and enjoys traveling with family.

Erica taught first grade for five years in the public-school system in Elkhart, Indiana before moving down to Charlotte. Erica loves working with the Charlotte Prep community, beginning first as a substitute teacher in 2011 and now as a Kindergarten teacher. Erica strives to help students find joy and excitement in learning and to help them see themselves as lifelong learners. Helping students discover a “can do” attitude and love of reading, writing, and learning is her goal. Outside of school, Erica has a passion for traveling, exploring the outdoors, cheering on sports teams, and creating memories with friends and family.

Mary Ann moved to Charlotte in 1995 from Knoxville, TN and began teaching at Charlotte Preparatory School. She has taught for over 30 years in kindergarten, first, and second grades. Her goal in the classroom is to make every child feel special and make learning fun and exciting. Outside of school Mary Ann enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and reading.

After graduation from Winthrop University in 2012 with a Master’s in Sport and Fitness Administration, Laurel started teaching PE at Charlotte Prep. During her teaching career at Prep, Laurel has developed the Lower School PE program by adding fun and exciting new areas of curriculum each year. In 2017, Laurel began including a fitness component into the PE program that tracks students’ achievements throughout the year. Beginning in 2019, Laurel serves as the Athletic Director for Charlotte Prep. In her free time, she enjoys coaching volleyball year-round and playing any type of sports to keep her active.

Dyanna joined Charlotte Prep in 2018 as the Director of Drama for K-8th grade. She has eight years of teaching experience and holds a Bachelor degree in Theatre Performance and Journalism/Communications from Lynchburg College in VA. She also received a graduate degree in Theatre Education from UNC Charlotte. Prior to joining the Prep family, Dyanna taught in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools at Community House Middle School. During her time at Community House, Dyanna led her students to top honors at the NCTC Middle School Play Festival, garnering Superior ratings, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Acting Awards, Stage Design, and the Excellence in Directing award two years in a row. She has performed professionally at Rocky Hock Playhouse in Edenton, NC and stays active in the Charlotte theatre scene. Dyanna encourages her students to build confidence through storytelling and expression. Her classroom is a fun and engaging environment where all students can feel safe to express themselves.

Matthew moved to Charlotte from Buffalo, NY in 2013. He taught first grade at a local public school for 5 years before arriving at Charlotte Prep in 2018. He takes pride in building a classroom that is safe, engaging, inspiring, and supportive to allow each student to be successful. Matthew’s enthusiasm and love for teaching allows him to build relationships with his students to help each child reach their full potential. Matthew enjoys sports amongst other things and is an assistant coach to the Boys Soccer Team. He loves to spend time outside of school playing soccer and golfing and spending time with his wonderful wife, Brittany.

Angela has been a music educator for over 23 years and is entering her ninth year at Charlotte Preparatory School where she serves as Director of Fine Arts, and as the K-8th grade general music teacher and the director of the choral and musical programs. In addition to teaching at Charlotte Prep, her diverse experiences range from teaching general music and chorus at private schools in New York City, New York state and Trieste, Italy, as well as public schools in Massapequa, Long Island and Charlotte, NC. Angela is a National Board-Certified Teacher who holds a post-master’s degree in Education Administration from UNC-Charlotte, and a master’s degree in music education from NYU with certifications in Orff and Kodály methods. Her awards and honors include the New York State Parent Teacher Association lifetime achievement award, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District Teacher of the Year Award, Music and Arts Music Teacher of the Year finalist, and Veterans of Foreign War Middle School Teacher of the Year Award. As a vocalist, Angela has performed with the Charlotte Oratorio Singers, Carolina Voices, and continues to adjudicate vocalists for NYSSMA’s (NY State School Music Association) School Music Festival. Her choruses have performed at the Peninsula Yacht Club, Biltmore House, Carnegie Hall, and in Italian cities such as Trieste, Sorrento, and Venice. She has been a presenter at numerous state education conferences, and mentored teachers from universities such as Hofstra, Adelphi, SUNY Binghamton, and UNC Charlotte. “I teach because I had great teachers. Their passion to devote their time and talent to ensure I had access to a variety of experiences and opportunities ignited my passion to pay it forward to future generations.”

After spending over 20 years in education, Jennifer is excited to bring her love of technology to the children and staff of Charlotte Preparatory School as the Technology Integration Specialist. She has taught in California, Minnesota and was named one of the top 10 educators in Union County, North Carolina. She is a passionate believer that technology can help children and teachers be prepared for future success in our competitive and ever-changing world. Being responsible digital citizens is emphasized in all technology classes K - 8 at Charlotte Preparatory School. Outside of school, Mrs. Stoltz loves spending time with her family, seeing lots of movies and finding adventures both at home and lands far away!

Alicia was born in Huntington, WV but has been living in North Carolina most of her life. She was an after-school teacher and teacher assistant before becoming a classroom teacher. Alicia has been teaching in the classroom since 2006 and has taught grades K-5. Her passion is teaching and implementing a curriculum that has students thinking “outside the box.” She is an avid reader and enjoys passing that love onto her students. Her hope is that through inquiry and investigation, students will learn to problem-solve and become independent learners. Outside of school, Alicia enjoys spending quality time with family, watching movies, and reading. She loves to try new things and work on DIY projects.

Emily first began teaching in 1991. She worked with multiple grade levels in Ohio, Texas, and North Carolina, eventually leaving the classroom to serve as the Lead Elementary Science Curriculum Coordinator for Union County Public Schools. While there she facilitated the science program for over 900 teachers in 30 schools. After partnering with the team at Discovery Place to complete a STEM Fellowship program, Emily knew the time was right to work directly with students once again. She became the STEM Specialist at Charlotte Prep in 2015 and loves sharing science, technology, engineering, and math initiatives with the Prep community.
Megan joins us from The Town School in New York. During Megan’s nine years at The Town School, a nursery through eighth-grade school located in Manhattan, Megan engaged students in meaningful, child-centered learning projects that incorporated literacy, math, science, social studies, and technology, while inspiring curiosity and joy in learning.
In the classroom and through leadership opportunities, Megan continually worked to enhance curriculum, support school initiatives, and strengthen community bonds. She is passionate about educating the whole child through meaningful, hands-on experiences and believes the classroom is a space where children should feel both supported and challenged. Most of all, though, she wants children to have fun learning!
Outside of school, Megan enjoys traveling, dancing, cooking, and hiking with her husband.
Lakshmi moved from India 33 years ago to the US with her husband. She has lived in Charlotte for 29 years and NYC before moving to Charlotte. Lakshmi has taught preschool for 19 years, and she enjoys being with children, watching them learn and grow. Away from school Lakshmi enjoys cooking, watching movies and listening to music, and most of all spends time with her family especially her grand baby. She has a Bachelors in Economics from Anna Adharsh College for Women, Chennai India and Early Childhood Education from CPCC.
Beth recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to continue her teaching career which began in 1985. Beth began her time Prep in 2019 as a teacher in our Extended Day Program. Beth has a passion for working with young learners and enjoys their curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm each day. In her free time, Beth gravitates to the beach, walking, and most of all enjoys spending time with her two children and family.

Suzette was born and raised in Miami, Florida and relocated to Charlotte in the summer of 2020. An educator since 2007, Suzette has always felt an incredible responsibility to the children in her classroom. Desiring to further understand the varying needs of her students, Suzette obtained additional certifications in teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Gifted and Talented instruction. Suzette strives to create a supportive classroom community where all her students feel welcome, celebrated, and become fully involved in the learning process. Her goal is to nurture free thinkers and spark their curiosity for the world around them. Suzette loves learning new things and hopes to impart that approach to her students. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, crafting, and spending time with her husband, son, daughter, and two dogs.
Dawn joins Charlotte Prep from NSU University School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she has been a TA in 4th grade since 2018. Dawn was a long-time Charlotte resident and a former Charlotte Prep parent before moving to Weston, Florida in 2008. Her passion for working with lower school children led her into the classroom full time, where she can be found having fun with word study, spelling, and reading. One of her favorite things is when she can help a child have an “a-ha” moment. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the look of pride on a child’s face when they succeed.
Dawn is happy to be back “home” in Charlotte and at Charlotte Prep. When she is not in school, Dawn enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, traveling, and cheering on her favorite sports teams, especially the Carolina Panthers.

Stefania began her teaching career in 2018, working at an independent school in Atlanta. Since then, she has taught in a variety of settings, such as general education classrooms, self-contained special education classrooms, and resource classrooms. Stefania has experience teaching students with learning disabilities, language and communication needs, as well as English language learners. Stefania holds degrees in both special education and elementary education, as well as a certification through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Stefania’s goal is to instill a love of learning and sense of confidence in each and every one of her students. Outside of school, Stefania spends her time cheering on Atlanta United FC or playing disc golf with friends and family.

Olympia started her career in education as an HR Instructor in 1988, in training and development in the workplace for almost four years. After that, she ventured into the field of school education. First as a High School Principal Assistant and Philosophy teacher in a private school in her hometown in Mexico. Then she became Assistant to University Chancellor in the new higher education division that the school opened up.
After a few years, Olympia started what she calls the project of her life– she and her husband Alfonso became parents. They have three sons– Aaron Alfonso, Emiliano, and Claudio. This special stage in her life made her change roles to become a stay-at-home mother. As soon as her children started attending their Montessori preschool education, Olympia started teaching Spanish IV and conversational English in a private bilingual Christian High School in 2002. Not long after they moved to North Carolina in 2009, she started teaching Spanish to children. Next year, will be her fifth year as being part of the Charlotte Prep family in the After School and Extended Day.
