High School Prep

and beyond

At Charlotte Prep, we have a proven program for assisting our graduating students in being placed in the region’s finest independent schools, boarding, and high schools.

Our administrators have relationships with their Admissions Directors, Upper School Heads, and Heads of Schools, and these schools are familiar with the quality of our program.

Our placement program includes the following elements:

  • Each September, 8th Grade parents attend a Parent Coffee to learn about the admissions process, events, deadlines, and other tips and information.

  • In September, administrators from 15-20 schools are invited to Charlotte Prep’s High School Fair to recruit our students. This gives our 8th Grade students and their families a chance to ask questions and obtain more information right on our campus. (The demand is so great for our students, that each year we have to limit the number of schools that we allow to attend!)

  • Our 8th Graders meet individually with our dedicated High School Placement Team to talk about their interests, their abilities, and how to find the right high school fit.

  • Our High School Placement Team meets with each 8th Grader’s parents to discuss their plans, their objectives for their child, and appropriate placement opportunities.

  • In Leadership class, students learn interview etiquette and conduct. They learn about proper dress, eye contact, handshake, and what to look for as they seek the school that fits them best.

  • Teachers and administrators perform mock interviews with students.

  • Charlotte Prep electronically delivers our students’ complete transcripts and teacher recommendation packets to the schools prior to deadlines.

  • In person and by phone, we work with these school officials throughout the school year to advocate for and make the best placements for our 8th Grade students.

The Results: Our students matriculate to one of their top-choice schools.
