Charlotte Preparatory School is seeking experienced teachers to join the After School Program team. This teacher will work with children grades K-8 grade completing hands-on after-school activities with children. Requirements: KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Classroom
- Organize room and materials to respectfully co-exist in a shared space, leaving the space ready for class the next day
- Daily schedule will include: planning and prep of group activities, supervision of recess and snack, homework assistance as needed, leading group activities, organizing free play materials, and clean-up
- Provide as many opportunities for children to be engaged as possible, and provide a good range of enriching, age-appropriate activities
- Advise the Director of Auxiliary Programs of needs regarding materials and supplies
- Keep student emergency forms and medications with you at all times, but keep in a place/manner to ensure confidentiality
- Prepare featured activities for full-care days
- Actively participate with the children, having them as the center of your focus at all times

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Education Degree, or working toward a degree in Elementary Education and/or Secondary Education (Middle School grades)

Program Leadership
- Lead the planning, organization, and daily operations of Charlotte Prep’s Auxiliary Programs, including After School, Studios, full-care days, evening and special event childcare, and Summer Camp.

- Create and manage program calendars, schedules, staffing plans, registration timelines, and operating procedures.
After School, Studios, and Summer Camp
- Plan and manage After School, Studios, and Summer Camp programming from registration through daily execution.
- Develop age-appropriate offerings that reflect student interests, family needs, and the mission of Charlotte Prep.
- Coordinate internal and external instructors, vendors, and community partners to strengthen program offerings.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, hire, onboard, schedule, supervise, and evaluate auxiliary program staff.
- Set clear expectations for staff roles, responsibilities, communication, safety, and professionalism.
- Provide coaching and support to ensure strong program quality and a positive student experience.
Family Experience, Safety & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families participating in Auxiliary Programs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with parents regarding program offerings, registration, schedules, expectations, and student needs.
- Ensure programs operate with strong student supervision, attendance procedures, dismissal protocols, and emergency preparedness.
Budget, Growth & Program Visibility
- Work with the Chief Financial Officer to develop and manage auxiliary program budgets, pricing, expenses, and revenue goals.
- Monitor participation, staffing, expenses, family feedback, and program performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work with the Director of Communications to promote programs and develop ideas that strengthen program quality, participation, family satisfaction, and the School’s reputation.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior experience leading school-based, camp, Studios, childcare, recreation, or youth programming required.
- Experience working with PK-8 students and families is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience hiring, supervising, training, and evaluating staff preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage program logistics, staffing, schedules, registration, budgets, and family communication.
- Strong understanding of student supervision, safety procedures, behavior management, and age-appropriate programming.
- Comfort using technology systems for registration, communication, data tracking, scheduling, and reporting.
- Ability to work flexible hours on occasion, including select evenings, full-care days, special events, and summer program periods.

- Integrate music history from a variety of genres and cultures.
- Collaborate with the Fine Arts Team to coordinate, rehearse, and execute performances that showcase students’ talent and progress.
- Plan and prepare engaging performances for school-wide events as requested, and traditional Prep songs with the chorus for the 8th-grade graduation ceremony.
- Provide differentiated instructional support to integrate and scaffold new or inexperienced students smoothly into the existing choral framework.
- Oversee real-world learning opportunities for students to experience professional performances within the Charlotte region.
- Establishes and maintains an environment that upholds Prep’s Pillars in and out of the classroom.
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to build a strong community.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Choral Conducting, Vocal Performance, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred).

- Proficient piano accompaniment skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent vocal development.
- Proven experience directing choral ensembles and musical productions as well as managing event production logistics.
