The story of Charlotte Preparatory School

is the story of our students

Charlotte Prep empowers children to write their own stories through our distinctive academic model, intentional size, and embracing community.

Our PreK-8 structure is a time-honored and research-proven model that celebrates every stage from early childhood through middle school, honoring the opportunities for learning and growth inherent in each moment and at every age. At Charlotte Prep, our students stay a step removed from the presence and pressures of high school, allowing them to be children a little longer—to unabashedly embrace the simple joys of friendship, discovery, and play. They are also empowered to be leaders a little sooner, with our middle schoolers modeling responsibility, confidence, and kindness for their younger schoolmates.

Dive Into Prep's Viewbook

Through this model and our carefully maintained small scale, Charlotte Prep provides extraordinary early opportunities. We are one of the few schools to welcome fifth graders onto our athletic teams, so our younger students can try new sports and practice true teamwork. Other opportunities—acting in the cast of a student musical, launching a community service project, or mentoring younger peers in our BUDEE program—round out the many ways our students explore their interests, develop their talents, and contribute to the greater good.

Of course, Prep is just the start of our students’ stories, and our graduates move on to the next chapter fully equipped for and genuinely excited about high school. And later, they choose their colleges with uncommon confidence, having already managed transition, embraced change, and successfully made important decisions.

“I’m amazed by my daughter’s progress in her first few years. She’s doing things I never did at her age and it’s so impressive. At the same time, it’s also warm and friendly—and Charlotte Prep teachers really focus on each child to meet them where they are.”
