Education: Todd Ballaban has dedicated over two decades to teaching, school leadership, and the development of young learners. He began his career teaching history, debate, and English at Brentwood School, then served as dean of academics and student life at La Jolla Country Day School, and most recently spent eight years as head of middle school at Charlotte Latin School. Drawn to Charlotte Prep by its philosophy of “children a little longer, leaders a little sooner,” Todd has witnessed this value reflected daily in the planning, instruction, and overall school culture. Originally planning to attend law school, Todd was drawn to first experience being a teacher. Twenty-two years later, he has never looked back, confident that teaching was the right path. As head of school, Todd’s mission is to build a strong, collaborative faculty and staff culture that prioritizes joy in learning and emphasizes real-world connections. He believes that happy, passionate faculty contribute to happy, engaged students. An interesting fact about Todd: At age 15, he captained the first ice hockey team from California to win a national championship. Charlotte Prep employee since 2025 |
