Education: Ashley Shaefer is deeply passionate about literature and learning. She was inspired to become a teacher by her own influential teachers, whose guidance stayed with her beyond the classroom. She brings this influence to her middle school English students at Charlotte Prep. Previously, she taught upper school English at the Cannon School and worked with the Duke TiP Program. Ashley hopes to nurture her students’ personal relationship with books at an age when that love is often challenged, helping them become lifelong readers. She finds teaching endlessly creative and values the chance to make new discoveries alongside her students, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. Outside of school, Ashley loves to travel and has traveled to 21 countries, she sings with Carolina Voices, enjoys cooking, camping, reading, and bartends on weekends at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center to stay connected with Charlotte’s vibrant performing arts scene. |
