Tara McLellan brings extensive experience in English education, academic support, and writing instruction. Before joining Charlotte Prep, she served as an Upper School Educational Resources Program Academic Coach at Charlotte Country Day School, an Upper School English Instructor and Co-Head Coach of Speech & Debate at Charlotte Latin School, a Visiting Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Writing Center at Catawba College, and an English Instructor and Director of the Regional Writing Center at the University of Mississippi. Tara is passionate about supporting students in their academic growth and helping them develop confidence as learners.

Outside of school, Tara is a creative writer currently drafting a collection of short stories about mothering. An interesting fact about Tara: She is a military brat who was born in Okinawa, Japan, and lived there for four years during her parents' second tour.
