My name is Mila, and I am honored to serve as this year’s student council president. I am currently in eighth grade, and I have been a proud member of the Charlotte Prep family since sixth grade.

When I first joined this school, I was a little nervous, as any new middle schooler might be. However, from the very beginning, I felt welcomed and supported. Teachers went out of their way to learn my name, older students were kind and helpful, and I quickly became friends with my classmates. That sense of belonging made all the difference, and it is one of the things that makes Charlotte Prep so special.

Due to our small class sizes, learning here feels personal and engaging. Every student has the chance to participate, ask questions, and truly connect with their teachers. It also gives us the opportunity to branch out and make friends across different grades. I still keep in touch with some of the friends I made here in the past, even though they have already graduated.

Middle school is often described as a challenging time, full of change and uncertainty. However, at Charlotte Prep, it becomes a time of growth, exploration, and confidence. The environment encourages us to try new things, learn from our mistakes, and discover who we truly are, all while being surrounded by people who genuinely want us to succeed.

During my time here, I have had the chance to experience so much. From playing the trumpet in our school band, to competing on our sports teams, to participating in fascinating Model UN conferences, I have learned lessons that will stay with me forever. Each of these experiences has taught me something different, such as teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and how to balance my passions both inside and outside of the classroom.

What I appreciate most is that the teachers at Charlotte Prep care deeply about helping every student grow, not just academically but personally. They challenge us to think critically, communicate clearly, and lead with empathy. Whether it is during class discussions, projects, or in Mrs. Stargell’s 8th Grade Leadership class, we are encouraged to take initiative, advocate for ourselves, and always strive for excellence, all while learning valuable life skills that will stick with us forever.

As I prepare to move on to high school, I feel incredibly grateful for the foundation Charlotte Prep has given me. I am leaving not only with strong academic skills, but also with lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and the confidence to take on whatever challenges come next.
