Zofia's Prep Story
November 5th, 2026
My name is Zofia, and I’m the Charlotte Prep student council president. I’m a volleyball player, I participate in theater, and I’m a Prep lifer. When I reflect on my time here, I can think of so many things I love about this school: the students, the teachers, the opportunities; the list goes on. When thinking about what I remember most fondly, I’m at a loss for words. Every day has been, and still is, so special that it's hard to choose just a few moments to share, but I'm going to try.
As I mentioned, I'm part of our theater department. In third grade, I knew I wanted to be in the spring musical, but I was scared to audition. I initially decided to join the tech crew, but after encouragement from my drama teacher, I decided to audition. I was extremely nervous. Not many people were auditioning, so it felt like all the eyes in the room were on me. I was so scared to sing, but after seeing how encouraging the older students were to the younger participants, I started to feel right at home. Later that spring, I was a part of my first after-school theater production at Prep, Once Upon a Mattress. It really showed me how much just a few people can do to make everything a little brighter.
As a volleyball player, I try my hardest to be a positive voice on the court. On spirit nights, I try to be as loud as the crowd to show my teammates how much I love and appreciate them. When players who don’t play often are put in, I cheer and try to pump them up because I know how stressful a game can be.
As I prepare to leave Prep, I know that I will miss so many things. One thing I will especially miss is my BUDEEs. At Prep, we have a system called the BUDEE program, where older students and younger students get matched up and spend time together throughout the year. My BUDEEs and I have had so many fun experiences together, like when, recently, they both showed me the art pieces they made in class. I have known them both for quite a while, and I know that I will miss them so much when I move on to high school.
These experiences, among so many other things, are exactly what makes the Prep community so great; there is always somebody to cheer you on, to cheer you up, and to help you out. Even when what you are trying to do is difficult or new.
All in all, Charlotte Prep has not just been an incredible school, but an incredible place for me to grow.

Oct29A School That Celebrates ChildhoodImmediately when I came to Prep, I got the sense that this is a place that truly understands children. The philosophy is centered on this fleeting, magical, and sacred time we call childhood. And in no way does this school underestimate children either. From day one, children are treated as capable individuals and future leaders, given responsibility and made to feel part of a community.
