OVERVIEW
The Lower School Lead Teacher facilitates a student-centered environment, delivering a comprehensive core curriculum and character education program through strategic collaboration with the instructional team. Specifically serving our upper-elementary students, this role supports the critical transition from foundational learning to increased academic independence and social-emotional growth. This is a full-time, 10-month faculty position within the Lower School division.

Requirements
GENERAL DUTIES
- Delivers core subject instruction using the adopted curriculum and programs, utilizing a variety of strategies to facilitate higher-level thinking.
- Develops differentiated lesson plans and materials to support small-group instruction and meet the diverse needs of each student.
- Instructs students in citizenship and character development while maintaining a respectful and functional classroom community.
- Evaluates academic and social growth through consistent record-keeping, narrative progress reports, and report cards.
- Communicates regularly with parents through conferences and digital correspondence to discuss student progress and school programming.
- Collaborates with student support members to identify individual needs and address learning or behavioral challenges.
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day, such as recess, lunch, and transitions.
- Creates an engaging learning environment through functional displays, interest centers, and the effective use of educational technology.
- Participates in professional growth opportunities, faculty meetings, and committees to support the strategic success of the school.
- Attends required divisional and school-wide events such as open houses, curriculum nights, and guest speakers.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of Lower School or Head of School.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; Master's or other advanced degree preferred.
- A valid teaching certificate is preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a lower school and an independent school setting is preferred.
