Rewriting PreK-8 education in Charlotte

Hear What Our Students Have to Say

Our school structure is based on research and is identified as the model most supportive of this age group’s success. To reach their potential, young adolescents do best in a small, nurturing environment where they are truly known by their teachers as unique individuals. We believe our Middle School is the optimal size—large enough to field an array of opportunities but small enough to foster a nurturing environment for every individual. The results are clear and remarkable. We surveyed parents of our graduates, and 100% of parents said that their children were well prepared for high school after Prep.

Curriculum Highlights

Our four-year sequence introduces students to developmentally appropriate concepts and then reinforces and builds on that knowledge over time.

  • Our students become creative and responsible users of emerging technologies, leveraging tools like coding and robotics. Through hands-on learning experiences, they build the skills and mindset needed for a world driven by rapid technological change.

  • Students benefit from tangible opportunities to learn characteristics of leadership and exemplify good character.

  • We offer Spanish as our foreign language for grades K-8. Middle School students take Spanish as a core class, developing the confidence and skills they will need to succeed in high school Spanish.

  • Students learn how to present themselves, speak confidently in public, and thrive in an increasingly complex, global society.

  • Our robust arts and athletics programs provide a well-rounded experience for all students.

Leaders of the School

As part of the Middle School leadership curriculum, students learn about presenting themselves, including interview skills such as shaking hands properly, appropriate dress, eye contact, and asking thoughtful questions.

Middle School students are looked up to on our campus. They understand the younger students are observing them and they are key role models in building and nurturing the kind culture Charlotte Prep has created. These life skills set our students apart as mature and poised adolescents and prepare them for futures bright with opportunity.

Charlotte Prep empowers children to write their own stories through our distinctive academic model, intentional size, and embracing community.

Our PreK-8th grade structure is a time-honored and research-proven model that celebrates every stage from early childhood through middle school, honoring the opportunities for learning and growth inherent in each moment and at every age. At Charlotte Prep, our students stay a step removed from the presence and pressures of high school, allowing them to be children a little longer—to unabashedly embrace the simple joys of friendship, discovery, and play. They are also empowered to be leaders a little sooner, with our middle schoolers modeling responsibility, confidence, and kindness for their younger schoolmates.
