Victory for Girls' Volleyball
October 24th, 2024
After our girls’ volleyball team won the QCC tournament championship, their head coach, Mandi Mohammed, reflected on an unforgettable season.
As we started our 2024 volleyball season, we settled on the theme of "energy!" No matter what was going on around us, no matter what kind of day we had, we would focus on bringing energy into practice and games. We were purposeful, passionate, intentional, and intense in whatever role or capacity our team needed us.
This team of 12 student-athletes was every coach’s dream. Players showed up for practice on time, if not early, and begged to stay late if their parents or the coaches' time allowed. In my seven years coaching volleyball at Prep, I am not sure I've ever had a team that didn't want to go home at the end of practice.
This team constantly supported and lifted each other up. They did not shy away from hard things. They asked for ways to get better and committed to practicing skills at home. They had a can-do attitude the entire season! This is a testament to their commitment to learn something new, get better, and have fun playing the game of volleyball. And in 18 practices, we accomplished the ultimate goal: winning the conference championship! It was a pleasure to watch each player become better and grow confidence in their skills not only as an athlete but, most importantly, as a person! And at the end of the day, that is what it is all about.
