Everyone is gushing about Grandparents & Special Friends' Day—our first one on campus since 2019—and what made this day so outstanding was, of course, our wonderful guests! We hope to see everyone again next year!

I became a first-time grandparent in January, and it was quite an emotional experience. When my son told me his wife was pregnant, I was very happy for them. I knew they were going to make great parents.  Soon after, though, I realized this meant I had officially entered OPT (old person territory). I mean, come on. A grandparent? Me?

Our annual STEM Egg Drop Challenge provides Prep students of all ages the opportunity to become engineers!

A global pandemic. Political unrest. Economic challenges. Disruptive new technologies. It is no doubt the past few years have been difficult. How do we acknowledge and live in the world as it is and be the best parents we can be?

Did you know that we have a published author at Charlotte Prep? And she’s only in 4th grade! In fact, Brooke White has just written her second book, ​​Cookie Cat & The Tagalongs, which is over 70 pages long. 

We are living in a moment of great societal change, and schools are being rightly challenged to keep up with and reflect the times.

As parents, we have the difficult task of teaching our children the utility and wonder of technology while protecting them from overexposure, overuse, and the myriad consequences it can have for the mind and body. 

One of the funnier moments of my career happened when I was the head of a school in New York City. I was new to my job and standing outside of school greeting students when a three-year-old approached and asked if I was the doorman.

The value of a truly excellent education does not merely come from what is being taught or the quality of instruction, but from the opportunities to apply that learning in the service of others. Thus, lessons in leadership ultimately become a mindset, not just an action or series of actions.

With our strategic plan Writing Our Next Chapternow launched and in motion, it seems a good time to reflect on why strategic plans so often deliver far less than they promise.
